In the Innovations in Aging podcast series, Jon Kevan, MEd from the University of Arizona Health Sciences Global and Online sits down with experts from across the University of Arizona to discuss the latest in how we can prepare to meet the needs of the growing population of older adults in the U.S. and around the world.

In this episode, your host Jon is joined by David Beyda, MD, chair and professor of the Department of Bioethics and Medical Humanism and director of Global Health Programs at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. They discuss ethics in the medical field and the importance of autonomy and personhood for people of all ages.

“As people age, they can lose their concept of personal identity,” said Dr. Beyda. “At the bedside, it is key that we focus on their personhood versus their disease.”
